>>IMO there are many more lemon owners than true lemon cars. That is, once a car has pissed you off, you can turn it into a lemon, by being hyper sensitive, insistent and nit-picky. That's not to say a consumer is abusing their privledges. What I'm trying to say is that they are just machines and sometimes it take quite a few tries to finally fix them right, to discover the true problem and that is often after the orignal customer's patience has expired.<<
Good point. I suspect the one year old 9000 we bought in 1995 would have fallen in that category. The story was that the first buyer had been driving 900s for many years, and traded up to a 9000. He brought the car back several times with complaints about the transmission, and in each case, the service personnel couldn't reproduce the problem. Finally one of them took a ride with the guy, and said: "sir, the problem you have with this car is you're trying to drive 25 mph in fourth gear." (the 900 likes to lug, especially in comparison to the 9000) They then gave him a deal to trade in that car on a new 9000 with an automatic tranny, so he ended up satisfied and we got a nearly-new car at a very good price.
