Hey Chris,
I do think swapping out the wood for the metal trim adds a lot to the Arc (in my opinion anyway). The cost I suppose depends on what you can work out with the dealer. In my case, they agreed to charge me for the metal parts only and not for labor and let me keep the wood trim that came out of my Arc for future, if needed/wanted. You can check the Saab Accessories Catalog online for the current prices, but I think I paid about ~$280 for the 5 pieces I changed. Not really cheap for 5 plastic pieces, but well worth it to me.
I should also add that the other big negative in the Vector for me were the 17" performance tires, not only for the ride quality that suffers, but the added risk of wheel scrapes, and dents on potholes (which are horrible here in Michigan). In addition, I didn't want performance tires, but rather all-seasons, as the Vector tires are not suitable for winter driving. I can't use separate winter tires as I live in an apartment and have nowhere to keep the 2nd set of wheels & tires (and I would rather not pay for a 2nd set of wheels). This may or may not be an issue for you depending on whether or not you drive on snow regularly and have to deal with ridiculous potholes like we do.
Hope some of this info helps.
