I bought a 2000 9-3 SE (CPO) with 48k last April. I'm in CA. They advertised $18,900 and knocked off $2,000 right off the bat. They didn't budge at all from there. I even walked out at first, then came back a couple days later to buy. I figured I could get a better deal through a private party or other non-Saab dealers, but I liked this one so much. They had me. They offered to subtract another $1,000 w/no warranty. But I decided to bite the bullet, and 6 months later I'm still happy about it. The warranty is VITAL. These are not honda civics and lots of little things go wrong. I had to bring it in, 2 weeks after i bought it because the Saab emblem on one of the rims fell off. I just had my car in at 55k. They replaced the water pump (leaking), the Direct Ignition (DI) cassette (failed), and installed some kind of tranny kit 'cause the gears were sticking. All this was covered under the CPO warranty, took 4 days to get it back. The warranty paid for itself and then some already. So far, though, it seems like I have to accept frequent servicing.
$16k sounds about right if it's CPO. I don't think they'll go any lower though. But who knows. CT should be cheaper than CA. Offer them $15k. Good luck.
