Ask her to indulge you and at least look at and drive a new 9-3, or even a 9-5 wagon. As for the others, the Honda is a good reliable choice. In addition to my 2000 Saab 9-3, I own 2 Acuras (Integra GS-R and RSX Type S) and a Honda Civic. Hondas are reliable, good cars, with usually outstanding dealer support. Mine are fun to drive too. However, in terms of safety they are not even close to Saab, Volvo or Audi. Friends who own Volvos and Audis complain about reliability issues, to the point several traded their cars for something else. I enjoyed driving the Infiniti G35 6MT, but I also enjoyed the new Saab 9-3 and felt it would be more useful in the real world of weather and traffic. Plus the new 9-3 is rated very highly in terms of reliability and safety. I'm waiting to see what the 9-3 Sporthatch will be like before I let go of my current Saab.
