you dont want to reset the oil life, if you reset the oil life you will never get the free 15k service at the dealer.the "time for service" is supposed to be on when the car is in for the 15K service. if you reset it now,the light wont come on at 15k, so leave it alone. wait for the light to come on at 15k,take it in and get the free 15k service, the dealer can then reset the light and all is well
Ditto to Bucks comments.
I went to the dealer yesterday for an oil change before the light came on. They didn't want to reset the computer but I told the the free service is over and it's the only way to monitor the oil life. They finally did reset it.
BTW, I've done to used oil analysis (they are posted on SC) and they were pretty good. The factory oil went 14,800 miles and was fine but had much on the engine break in crud still in the oil--my sugg. is to change at 5,000 miles when new. The second oil change was done at 10,500 when the service light came on again. The oil was about depleted so the computer seemed to be doing its job. The factory fill and Saab oil are NOT the same.
