I have read on an independent saab repair shop (saabspokane.com) never to run any grade 5w or less. Even on Turbos. He recommends 15-50 syn. in the summer and 10-30 syn. in the winter. Claims the lighter wt. oils do not have enough "cushion" of the bearings and will cause premanture engine wear by as much as 75,000 miles. If you comb thru the site there is a theory tied to GM's purchase of Saab and Ford's purchase of Volvo and the need to meet CAFE standards in the US on their Fleet of autos. Lower wt. oils increase gas mileage to help meet these standards. I'm not saying I believe it or not, what do you guys think. I currently have 5w-30 mobile 1 in my 00 viggen.
