Everyone considering leasing should access the following lease spreadsheet provided by some guy named Marc (Thanks!)--
http://fieldinet.com/saab/lease.xls
I found it really helpful when I negotiated my deal. Your dealer may have a different way of pitching the deal, but I learned all of the basic terms and was able to understand any deal after working my way through various calculations using the spreadsheet...
A few comments:
Of course the $5000 is not taxable, neither is the $2500 that you are putting down. Both reduce the cap cost; only the net cap (negotiated price-invoice in your case-minus cap cost reductions) is taxable.
Double check the money factor--use the chart and run the calculations (you can plug in all those fees too!)--Brian is saying it's .00183.
Where is your acquisition fee? Make sure that you have all of the fees out of them before you even look at a contract. Evaluate all fees carefully (it helps to comparison shop in this regard).
Use the chart! It really helps you to see how the deal can be swung around evey which way. I would consider minimizing your up-front costs--you can easily turn this into a zero-down lease. Also see about getting that security deposit waived--especially if you've got excellent credit (in July it was waived for all leases).
Good luck!
