Never hit the clutch. The car needs the weight of the engine to prevent lockup. Once the wheels lock, it makes no difference what you do; you will not be able to control the vehicle.

In a severe push situation, keep your head about you. Accept the fact that you are not going to go where you need to. Pick the safest, straightest line, and go with it. Trying to force the car to go where phisics wont allow, only complicates your situation.

The number one priority is to be smooth. Don't make any sudden movements. Do just enough to keep yourself from experiencing the worse case scenario, and nothing more. Usually you will find that this was more than enough to correct your problem. Or keep you from killing yourself or your car.
