Well Nick,
I can see that one, with experience from standard Saabs, can be sceptical to the performance of a well-tuned 9000 Aero.
But the fact of the matter is that there are several 9K's that I'm aware of that are capable of reaching speeds in that ballpark.
I have (albeit speedo figures) seen 260 kph in my car with my previous ECU.
My current ECU boosts 1,3 bar at lower rpm's, max 1,5 bar at 4000 rpm, tapering off to 1,17 bar@ 5500 rpm. So I think it's safe to say that there's some potential there...
I haven't made any dyno runs yet, but will probably do so this coming spring. I'm also thinking about doing some night driving with a GPS to see if I can come close to something resembling top speed. One typically runs out of road before running out of steam... :-)
Also, hitting the redline is not exactly necessary. At rev limit (I belive 6200 rpm in my car...haven't tested as it's been raining constantly for the last three weeks...) I would be doing something like 290 kph...
Finally, there are Saabs that I know of capable of 295 kph (in one case a 9K, the other a 9-3). So it is possible.
And yes, it is a wonderful feeling outrunning Porsches in sedans... I haven't done so yet in my Aero but I did in my previous 4-door turbocharged 4wd beauty...
As always this was just IMHO...
Take care!
/ Karl
