Yes, it is a mess to figure out. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Thu, 14 Jul 2005 18:10:01 In Reply to: Electronic Parts Catalog Question, Kirk, Thu, 14 Jul 2005 16:44:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I cannot say what happened in between those VIN and engine numbers as far as timing belt, especially with the 2002 model.
EPC talks about a service kit (P/N 5335617 $1767.00) for a certain group of 2002s (between VIN 23014391-23028450) and then it goes back to the old tensioner bracket (P/N 4774048) for a little while (VIN 23028451 up to engine number 578511) and then it is the new tensioner from engine number 578512, P/N 5958178.
It would be interesting to see what's included in the $1767.00 service kit and if it is something that was installed for free under warranty so that those owners don't have to worry about it later on.
It's really tricky when they mix and match between using VIN, engine and transmission numbers here and there in the parts catalog.
What year and VIN is your car?
