Spenser, I just purchased a 2000 9-5 wagon with 96k for $8200. It had all the features you listed, except for the vented seats. I bought mine from a private party, so I'm pretty much on my own to fix any issues (my SID is missing pixels, some bulbs out, alignmnent may be off). I think I bargained a pretty good price for my wagon. If your car is one year older and 75k miles more experienced, it would seem like there should be a greater price difference than $2200. 171k is a lot of miles, on any car. However, I'm assuming your dealer is including some sort of a limited warranty (30 days? 3k?). At least it sounds like he's willing to replace some parts.
I'm sort of in the same boat, in that I'm hoping I didn't inherit another driver's problem car. I would suggest thoroughly checking over the entire exterior and interior lighting. It's best to try the car at night--you can quickly identify a dud light (for instance there's a problem with the hatch lights on my car). Open everything that can be opened, push every button that can be pushed, and pull every lever that can be pulled. You don't need to be an experienced mechanic to find out if these little things work. If some don't, hopefully the dealer will fix them. Bigger mechanical problems are the real gamble. Hope your wagon (and mine!) don't run into any of these. I think you'll love the car, though.
