1)the infinity's are 4 ohms as well... I had the same worry about the ohm rating changes, but there was no audible difference after the change. I think the difference in rating was offset by the fact that the replacements are more efficient..(true of the BA's as well)
2)a) the rear deck speakers are actually 6x9 "free air" subs.. So if you replace these with a 6x9 2 way, then you'll need to do some rewiring to feed them a full signal as they are currently fed by a filtered signal by the amp which only passes the lowest of frequencies. Also if you go with a better 6x9 you may need to add an amp that can better drive the replacements..so this solution can quickly get messy and add up ....
b) So with that in mind.. the basslink may be a better solution as it is an all in one unit with amp, etc.. it just depends on how deep you're willing to go (with bass and in your pockets!).. If you go this route you then need to decide if you plan on removing the 6x9 deck speakers, etc.. lots of decisions !
3) the front door panels are generally left untouched by most, partly due to the fact that there is an airbag sensor under the door panel.. and partly because those speakers seem to the best in the system.. and do a decent job with their midbass reproduction..
