Hi,
I recently had a go at the slightly imperfect SID in my 2000 Aero Wagon, recently rurchased.
With a flat blade screwdriver and some rags as packing (yes I was VERY worried about cracking the wood/plastic fascia but managed ok with care), I eventually was able to prize out the blank switch cover under the TCS button. From there it's pretty easy to pop out the TCS button (if equipped), then you can reach in through that hole grab the SID from behind and pull it free on one side, with a bit of fiddling the other side comes out soon after. Basically the SID is held in only with a "double tapered" spring clip- a gentle taper as you insertm then it pops over the crest of the clip and is retained by a quite steep taper in the other direction.
A word of warning- my efforts to revive the SID (ball point pen, iron, foam tape etc) all combined to make the problem significantly worse! Even after 3 tries! At that point I put it back together and am currently ignoring it untill such time as I have another go at it.
As an aside, for the first 1/2 day I got a "replace key battery" message on the SID after I did all this. It went away though....
Re the 120k service, it is outlined in the service book coming with the car. If you don't have that I can provide a copy, but basically it's all the normal check/adjust stuff, plus interior filter & brake fluid. According to my book it says fuel filter, coolant, serpentine belt, and auto trans oil change at 90k. Depends on what you think the servicing has been done like in the past. Even though I have a perfect service history for my 112,000km car, I'll probably do all the 30+60+90,000km items at my next service of 120,000km. And of course oil changes from now on at less than their (IMHO) ridiculous 15,000km interval.
Cheers
Steve
