The SID is pretty much a force fit into the dash opening. Some individuals have been able to gently pry it out using thin blade tools. Mine was far too tight to be removed that way.
The correct way is to use a pair of DIN radio removal tools and remove the radio first. These tools are two loops of steel wire which insert into the four holes on the radio (you wondered why these are there!), and you simply pull the radio straight out of the dash. Frighteningly easy to do.
You can buy a set of these tools at Wal-Mart for just under $4, or at other car audio sources too. A word of advice on the Wal-Mart tools. These inexpensive tools have a rounded notch on their ends which is intended to engage a barb on the radio chassis to allow you to remove the radio. I had to file this notch to a sharp edge before the tools would work. The original rounded edge could not engage the chassis barb adequately to resist the relatively mild force of the extraction pull.
One the radio is removed, you reach into the dash opening, grasp the SID by the rear, and pull HARD (directly towards you while sitting in the driver's seat), to remove it from the dash.
