Paint Protection?

I have a 2001 9-5 Aero with 1700 miles and already have some chips in the hood. Has anyone used any of the paint protection systems available? Particularly stonegard and xpel? Which is better? Are they reasonably easy to install by a doit yourselfer? I want to do something quick before I get more chips.
Thanks in advance
