Thanks! I still don't see how 0.4 inches will make that much of a difference, particularly with the new winter tire tread designs. Right now, I'm thinking of buying tires for my winter beater that are 10.5 inches in width, which are about 1.25 inches more in width than my previous tires.
Let me put it this way: my 235 tires in my truck got me everywhere I wanted to go in the snow last winter. I went out during the worst of the snow storms, when several people were off the roads. I went through many snow drifts and unplowed sections of road/parking lots with many inches of snow. I even helped other people get unstuck. And my tires suck. They are "all season" tires. If these crappy tires do that well in snow, does 0.4 inches make that much of a difference for a four-wheel drive?
