I had the same problem in my 02 Aero Sedan. I wore the inside (cupped severly) within 5k on new Avon's. I replaced them it was so bad. I had SAAB look at it and they said alignment was fine. Tirerack said bad shocks. The shocks and springs are fine. THen I took it too a local guy and he gave me the print out of the rear alignment vs spec. THe car was within spec, but towards the more negative camber.
After the Avon's, I bought Bridgestone Turanza LSZ's and they have been great. Rotating at 5k and with no problems. Tires do make a difference. I run the rears at 36 psi and usually have three kids (120 lbs) in the rear seat. I will have my indy shim the camber to lean it out, within spec. Hope this helps!
