I Have the Starmate 1 and use it with a cassette adapter. I tried the FM modulator, but in my neck of the woods; (NJ) the FM dial is so crowded that when I travelled the state I had to keep changing the frequency to keep a signal. With the Cassette adapter, you can go anywhere with no cross station interference. I think the quality is a lot better with no soldering or pulling the dash.
I have the wagon and have the antenna on the roof, it might work on the dash but Sirius uses a different technology than XM in that the 3 satellites are not stationery. This can cause more dropouts as you move, so the higher and less unobstructed your antenna, the better.
