Previous poster hit the highlights. My '04 Arc is my first SAAB so don't miss the decontented items but am very glad the ingnition cassette and information display problems were fixed. The boosted power to 220HP is about all anybody really needs. Bought it new in Dec of '03 and now has 32K mi and here are the problems to date, none of which are too bad but annoying at the time:
1. Vanity mirror cover broke off with first use
2. Cup holder broke after about a dozen times of use
3. Battery died suddenly in mid '05
4. Sun-roof stuck open
5. Excessive brake rotor wear at 30K (especially for manual trans)
6. Two trips to dealer for recall work
7. Coin holder falls out
8. Essentially "required" 5K oil change intervals with full syn although sold as "free service" until 36K
First four covered by warranty, fifth looks like we're good for several thousand more miles but pad and rotors will need to changed which is usual for these cars. Drives and handles very well (previous car was BMW 5 so is a fair comparison), economical at about 28 mpg combined city and hiway with as high as 34 mpg on the hiway.
