To the contrary, I have still my original brake pads and rotors with nearly 40K miles (64000 km) driven on my 1999 model 9-5. And they still look almost new.
Of course I do mostly long distance (autobahn and mountain) driving here in Bavaria (Germany). But when I have to use the brakes from high speed, I use them hard so they "glow" for sure.
So I guess it really all depends on your driving habits! I do not believe Saab would use "soft" (i.e., low quality) brake pads or rotors on their high performance cars.
I know that does not help much your case, it's just my opinion. And if your dealer is so nice and replaces rotors and brake pads at the cost of Saab USA, oh well - what should I say - that's the price every car importeur hast to pay for "success" on the U.S. market ...
Regards,
t.
