the 2002 and above require 3309 meaning NO Dexron. The WIS also specifies NO synthetic 3309 which rules out Mobil. Which leaves us with Toyota type IV at below $5 at the dealer (I'm referring to prior posts regarding Toyota 4 and its price).
If I get my calculations right, 3 flushes would get 92% of the fluid replaced (i.e. 4 liters out of 7 total each time), so yeah, it's close to perfect. At any rate, one flush will be better than nothing. Make sure when you check the level to follow the procedure: not 100% sure (no access to WIS this minute, but I think it's neutral then reverse for a few seconds, then drive, then neutral again , and check -engine still on).
Regarding the indy recommending the wrong fluid, I'm not surprised, it seems like most professions have a high % of incompetents. At least, you're lucky it's not a brain surgery that you need.
