I'm just about to switch from Mercedes to Saab - my aero arrives in February.

Having owned Bmw's Audi's and Merc's I can tell you that none of them are trouble free. In my humble experience:

BMW - faulty motor management system / warped discs / failure of the remote oepning for doors mechanisms,
AUDI - appalling electrics - replaced sunroof motor twice - 3 new air conditioners, all 4 window motors replaced at least once, parts replacement unbelievably long - 8 months for a rear door speaker !
MERCEDES - after 10,000 miles had to replace two of the cdi injectors - repeated failure of the air conditioner filtration system - gas tank caps that constantly leak after numerous replacements, radio c/d player with a mind of its own.

I'm not expecting the Aero to be the miracle car - any product that is comprised of so many parts from so many varied sources is, in the laws of probability, going to have the odd problem now and then.

The price to quality ratio is however on the side of Saab.

As regards trim - well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Lou I know hates the faux aluminium dash but Saab are for once, following a motor trend right now for commercial reasons - I must admit I hated the look in the fotos but really liked it when i saw it in "the flesh" - go figure.

I hope GM stays with Saab otherwise it will be another interesting marque that will simply bite the dust and leave us all with less choice and individuality when we come to choose our cars.
