It makes a difference. My 1986 9000T has a standard type block heater. My 2002 Arc V6 apparently will not accept a block heater, so Saab sells a heater which installs into one of the radiator hoses. I just went through this, and found out that the directions for the heater are designed for the 9000 V6 (nonturbo) engine. They tell you to go in from the top to install. This won't work on the 9-5 V6 because of the turbo plumbing. You need to go in from the bottom and remove one piece of turbo ductwork for access to the hose. The good news: the heater seems to work pretty well.
