I have used cable chains on my 900SE and have purchased a set for my 9-5SE. The problem with the older style of chains is the clearance inside the wheel well. With larger wheels and tires, there isn't enough for a chain and you risk damage when you turn the front wheels. There are very low profile cables that can work, and also a system call spyder spykes that will work on any car, but is expensive. You might be better off just renting something for the mountain trip, so when some other fool slides around on the ice, you don't damage your Aero. Two trips a year probably isn't cost effective for a set of snow tires, but you should compare it to a 4x4 rental. I know in California they don't care about snow tires, you have to have chains sometimes regardless.
