Scheduled Maintenance is a non-issue. Saab USA reimburses the servicing dealer for doing the work after you have it done, so it is a revenue opportunity for the servicing dealer. Dealers want to do this service because they make money on it.

You >> DO NOT << have to have your maintenance service performed by the selling dealer. The selling dealer has nothing to do with your service needs (scheduled or otherwise) - they are just another mechanic competing for your service work. If you are in an area with more than one Saab dealer you can shop for the best purchase deal when you buy your vehicle, then it to the best service operation around to have the pre-paid and warrantee service done. My cars rarely, if ever, go back to the selling dealer for any reason.

Scheduled maintenance is done competently most of the time. The things some dealers have problems with revolve around diagnosing and repairing unscheduled problems.

My 20 years' Saab experience, covering 6 Saabs, has been that SaabUSA is very, very good about warrantee coverage. They want to have happy Saabers, and, in my experience, they stand behind their product. Long after the warrantee had expired, I took my first 9000T ('86) to the dealer for a rust issue, and the Saab district rep was there and approved the repair on the spot - full coverage. I was very impressed, and then walked across the lot into the showroom and bought a new one ('92), that same day. Good warrantee policies sell cars.
