(Pat yourself on the back if you get "The Simpsons" reference!
I was always blown away by the Harmann Kardon sound system in my 9-5...until a couple of days ago! I was on Edmund's reading people's reviews of the 9-5 (owner reviews) and someone posted details on how to boost the performance of the HK system. Apparently, some people were confusing the following functionality with the "Start Volume" function and had been complaining about poor stereo performance:
If you have the Premium (HK) stereo:
1. Turn it on while holding down the WB button.
2. You will now see a factory preset (usually 9). This is not start volume, but actually the amount of amplifier boost being provided by the HK unit. Set it to 25 (which is still well below its max).
3. Your volume will be extremely loud for 10 seconds- cover your ears! It will then drop down to a more appropriate level.
You're done! Pop in your favorite CD and enjoy 240 watts of HK thumping through you. I put in "The Gladiator" soundtrack and couldn't believe how much more incredible an already incredible system could become!
Enjoy!
