The deer isn't feeling all that well...

A Saab story --
This past Saturday, at the witching hour of dusk, I was driving along with my dog in the back of our 2001 9-5 base wagon. As the speedometer registered 55, I saw one deer pass from left to right in front of me. Knowing how deers like to hang in packs, I slowed down to 35-40 and BAM!, another deer came into the Saab at about 45 miles an hour.
First, we were fine. The computer said, "Front Engine Light Failure". OK. Of course, as my windshield began to crackle and pop right in front of my eyes, I hit OnStar's Red Cross button, got through before immediately, told the attendant I was fine but that I could not drive the car as my windshield looked like the back end of a kaleidoscope. She made a 3-way call to the local police -- Score several points for OnStar. The tow truck came, the insurance covers all but $500 of $3300 worth of damage (new windshield, hood, driver's side front light and fender).
This car will be fixed by a reputable bodyshop and will look brand new. The shop's owner says he's worked on 1000's of Saabs, and can see (but will verify) that there is absolutely no structural damage to the vehicle, which is 99.9% possible, as I could have driven home. But, my husband and brother think it may be time for a new vehicle.
Do you think so? If yes, why? What are incentives these days on 2002 wagons? This just-about-brand-new '01 has about 16.5K miles on the odometer, premium package, auto trans, FRHS, the usual stuff. What do you think it's worth trade-in or retail? Thank you.
