I would take the advice of the expert as to damage. If you try to sell or trade the car I imagine that the buyer will check the VIN and see it was in an accident so I would think you would loose quite a bit of money in addition to the hit you take in the first year. The buyer will think there is something wrong with the car even if there isn't. Cosmetic damage can be fixed. I hit a hiuge rock or barrel at night. Only the lower spoiler was damaged. Car drives fine and I have no plans to get rid of it.
In November and December I did a lot of country driving and in two days drove by at least 25 dead deer on the highway. There but for the grace of God.
