gap, in millimeters. Nothing to do with pre-gapped or not. I think the length of the electrodes is different to accomodate the wider gap. Never expect a plug to be pre-gapped. Always check them.
A -8 is for a gap of .8mm or .032".
A -11 is for a gap of 1.1mm or .044".
A -14 is for a gap of 1.4mm or .055".
