As for the head gasket, I learned recently from another shop that the top of the pistons protrudes up over the deck slightly more on the B234/204 engines compared to the B235/205 so if you would to use the thinner sheet metal gasket for the B235/205 engine, you end up with a slight click/clacking noise when the pistons hit the cylinder head.
Not enough to completely lock up the engine or bend the rods but enough to make noise when you rev up the engine.
How come you used the cam shafts from the 97 9000? Are they "hotter"?
