I am told the inspection takes 12 minutes to determine whether my vehicle has a faulty part. I have the impression the purpose of the inspection is to find a serial number and compare it with a list of faulty numbers, but I might be wrong about that. Saab USA will not authorize any establishment here in Great Falls, Montana, to even do the inspection, regardless whether I pay for it or not. They are sending a truck from Missoula, 165 miles away, to haul the car over there. That's the location of the nearest authorized Saab repair facility. I can see sending the car there if it needs repair, but it's hard to understand their reluctance to have it inspected locally. If it's a serial number issue, I could take photos and send them one. They will pay for a rental, $35.00 a day max. They will also pay for a rental for me to go over and pick up the car when done. Whew!
