I remember in about 1980 I had a 1978 Volvo rustproofed. I sold it in 1984. When I saw it years later it was totally rusted. Just trash. I sold my 1981 Volvo (never rustproofed) to some friends in 1988. They drove it into the ground for another 10 years with no unusual rust. i think rustproofing makes holes in your car and then traps any moisture that might be there. My 1981 Saab 9000CD has been on the street for the last six years and has only I little bit of rust on the lip of the trunk probably because of an unnoticed chip. I would say leave well enough alone. i don't even want to fix the rust spot on my '91 becasue I think it will rust more after after being sanded and repainted. Nonbody will gaurantee a rust repair. i have not rutproofed my 2001 LPT. Side by side the paint jobs on the two cars are both great.
