Rear doors: moisture/drainage/panel removal question

Hoping somebody can help me with a couple of queries:
I've noticed water dribbling down the inside of the rear doors on my 2001 wagon: it's running out from underneath the bottom edge of the plastic strip that surrounds the outer edges of the door panel. It can't run into the car because it's below the point at which the plastic edging strip meets the rubber seal (just below the kickplate). But if I remove the courtesy lights from the bottom edge of the doors I can feel wet inside the door cavities just below the speakers.
1. Does water in this area of the door cavity indicate that the damp-proofing has been breached? I don't relish the thought of water running down over the electrics.
2. Curiously there are no visible drain holes to be found anywhere along the lower portion of the rear doors - so how does any moisture that will inevitably get into the door past the windows actually drain out again?
3. Is it an easy task to remove the rear door panels so I can take a closer look? Your advice would be welcomed here. (My dealer is half a day's drive away).
Thanks very much for your thoughs and any advice.
Regards,
Ashford (2002 Aero wagon)
