question on hitch install

Just picked up a used saab hitch from the junk yard today, a pain to remove, hoping it wont be so bad to install.
It is a saab sticker with saab part number... it has 4 bolts that bolt onto the car in the "up" fashion, then three more bolts that bolt to the bumper.
I was unable to remove the bumper from the car at the junkyard, hence making it a pain to remove. The plastic was OFF of the bumper, but the aluminum plate still intact.
Is it necessary when I install to remove the plastic from the bumper after removing the bumper from the car, or will it bolt on there w/out removing the plastic?
