I don't have a solution for you, but I will say that I have a similar problem with my 2000 AERO. I bought it in 03 with about 30k miles on it. It has had this sluggishness every summer that I've had it.
When its under 40 degrees outside, the turbo boosts right up to the yellow/red line. But when it's warm out, the boost never gets above 2/3 of the yellow. I always use 93 gas, and have tried different brands from different stations.
What is weird is one day last summer, I stopped to get gas at a BP station. As I was accelerating at about 2/3 throttle to get back on the highway, the boost went to 2/3 of yellow as is typical for a warm day - 80 degrees. Then without moving the gas pedal at all, the boost all of a sudden went to just over the yellow/red line and the acceleration picked up dramatically. It stayed there until I had to back off because I was soon going too fast.
This happened a couple more times in the following 2 weeks, and then it has never happened since.
So I too hope that someone out there has any ideas on what is going on. One of my thoughts has been the MAF, but I haven't done any checking/work on it.
