The best way to have the claim handled is to get the vehicle to the body shop you intend to use so the adjuster can visit the car there and hash things out directly with the body shop. Pay little attention to the estimate given by the adjuster as there most likely will be additional damage uncovered during the repair process. If you are given a check for the $7,500 or asked to sign anything, don't cash it or sign until the repair is made and you are satisfied. You are entitled to use the body shop of your choice. There is a possibility however that the body shop will not accept the labor rates offered by the insurance company so be prepared to pay the difference if you are particular about the shop. Most shops will agree to allowable rates offered by the insurance company however. Hope this helps.
