I returned my '00 leased maxima in June; got a 99 9-5. I test drove the '02 first (lease promo's etc-would have been a great deal for a new one.) That car is ridiculously over-powered for front-wheel drive. 1st and 2nd have enough torque steer to take the wheel out of all but the strongest hands-they need traction control on them. The altima is 400lbs lighter with a similar engine. Like you said-great for teenagers who want a motorcycle with a roof. The 9-5 is far more poised, but the max was cheap, performed well, and was VERY reliable.
