I got it Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 12:28:07 In Reply to: Re: Front brake spring, how do get it on??, Stephen Goldberger, Thu, 25 Sep 2008 10:51:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Put the pin into the hole on the lower side. Place the flat ends into place on the part of the caliper that stays on the car. Take a pair of water pump pliers (slip joint, some folks call them) and put the small jaw on the flat part of the spring, then span the other jaw to the top of the caliper and gently apply pressure to position the pin towards the hole. Taping a little just to convince it to go all the way in. Before, I was holding the flat part of the spring in place with pliers and trying to push it in with another pair of pliers. I came close several times but it just wouldn't go.
Also, my saab dealer had one spring in stock. $16. Eeuroparts.com, 2 springs in one bag, $9, plus shipping. If it wasn't going to rain tommorow I would have ordered them and at least had a spare spring to add to my collection.
