Okay, this is where I'm at now:

I did the spark check by inverting the DIC, putting the plugs in it and wiring them to a ground. All four plugs have a nice spark. So, that eliminates the DIC (both the existing one and the new one that I didn't need) and the plugs. I replaced the plugs anyway and it made no difference. Again, it just cranks and cranks and would probably do so until the battery or the starter died.

I used a syringe on the hose to the fuel pressure regulator to see if it "holds" a vacuum. When I tried pulling back on the plunger I met resistance and it returned to closed position. I guess that means it's a closed system without leaks so that somehow eliminates the FPR as faulty?

I did not hook up a fuel pressure tester gauge to the fuel rail valve because I haven't gotten a hold of one. However, the more crude method of depressing the valve stem with the engine cranking shoots out a powerful stream of fuel. Of course I have no way of knowing if "powerful" equals 43 psi. As a (probably) minor concern, every time I take the cap off the fuel rail valve, a little gas leaks out for just a moment like the stem is bad. Should I be concerned? It doesn't appear that the valve leaks with the cap on.

I got a new fuel filter but haven't put it on. The current one has less than 15K miles on it. I checked all fuses and they're fine. The TB is not in limp home mode and wire harness and all hoses are hooked on fine. One thing I could try yet is putting my old one back on to see if it starts or at least makes a different sound.

My indy can't look at it for another five days so I'll probably have it towed 30 miles to the dealer tomorrow. I'm sure that regardless of what I tell them they will retry all the same things I just did, but this time I'll be paying an arm and a leg for it.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'll let you know what happens.

Marcus
