9-5 Arc, 122k miles
Today I had my car jump started for the second time. Another cold day in which I ran the backup heater with the car off (first time was for quite some time, maybe like 45 minutes, today it was less than 10.)
Today I actually locked the car with the heater on (just to warm it up a bit) and dropped a book off at the library. I think I was back to the car in under 8 minutes, and the alarm siren was going off without stopping. (Disclosure: I do have the security system alert come up on the SID and the 3am alarms going off, but usually that lasts just a couple of seconds.)
Anyway, the interior lights were definitely on the dim side. It took quite a few minutes for the alarm to stop (even after I unlocked it) and when I tried starting the car (with or without the alarm going of) I'd just hear a bunch of clicking noises.
The car fired up without difficulty with a jump. The batter was replaced under warranty in autumn 2005, so it's probably 3 years old now and has at least 65k miles on it.
But everytime I get the battery checked at AutoZone, they say it's fine. I could see the starting amp number on it and its in the 550 range. Is that high enough?
