Engine cuts off on stop, does not start for awhile. Posted by Don [Email] (#1099) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Don) on Tue, 9 Jun 2009 12:30:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
7-8 months ago my wife on a way home stopped at a grocery store for 10 minutes, but when she came out the car would not start. She called me and while I was getting ready to head her way to help, the car started a few minutes later and after a few tries. It happened during a last warm day of the year and she ran A/C, so I figured it was some electrical issue triggered by overheating. The problem did not return during the following cold weather season.
Last weekend after a few minutes we drove off the Staten Island’s Zoo parking, with A/C on and hot weather outside the engine stopped as we waited on a red light. The engine wouldn’t start. With a help of a good Samaritan I pushed the car to a curb, because it was too dangerous to stay in the left lane of a busy crossroad with our two children in back seats. While waiting for a tow truck I tried to start up a few more times to no avail. A few hours later, when the car was brought to a repair shop it started on the first try! According to a mechanic diagnostics did not reveal a problem and I took the car home.
The following morning when my wife stopped at a parking gate at work to get parking ticket the engine cut off again! Does anyone have any suggestion what could be the problem?
