I go to my Saab dealer today looking for MTF 0063, and the parts/technician tells me that that has been replaced. I'm skeptical as he brings out a bottled labeled "Transmission fluid, automatic transmission"
The part number for the new stuff is 32025038.
eEuro description says this: "Saab manual transmission synthetic fluid. Designed for any 79-98 Saab 5spd. 1 Liter bottle. The bottle states "automatic transmission" fluid, but this is the correct fluid (per Saab) for the stated applications. Replaces p/n 8748733. Saab strongly
recommends that you don't mix this with any other transmission fluid."
GenuineSaab's parts lookup says that this "new" fluid is superceded by part 93165414. My dealer told me explicitly the opposite, and to use the ATF.
MTF0063 is part 400132213, and GenuineSaab says it is superceded by a bunch of items. eEuro does not carry MTF0063 anymore (they did a few weeks ago).
So, I am very confused, as there seem to be many part numbers (following GenuineSaab's parts lookup):
400132213 - GEAROIL MTF0063 superceded by:
12799117 - GEAROIL MTF0063 superceded by:
9120541 - TRANS OIL superceded by:
93165290 - TRANS OIL superceded by:
32025038 - TRANSM OIL superceded by:
93165414 - TRANSM OIL
and
32025038 - TRANSM OIL (dealer recommended, superceded by 93165414)
93165290 - TRANS OIL
and this doesn't even cover the "old" stuff.
So, what is going on here?
And what should I put in my transmission?
