Hi all,
Everything seems to be functioning properly now. Leaving the coolant/heater core circulation pump off of the car, I connected the hoses together and reassembled everything.
Pressing Auto + Off generates no error codes. Therefore, it seems, the circulation pump failure caused both code 18 and code 19 to be displayed when - in fact - only the circulation pump had failed (code 19).
Even better, my radiator fans no longer run on low after I shut the car off. This was a pretty big concern on my part because they drain the battery when they run for hours and hours on end.
You'll recall in my previous message that the terminals on the circulation pump were so corroded that when I tested the circulation pump, I found a direct connection between the terminals. I believe this direct connection caused the radiator fans to run on low. I say this having *not* examined the wiring diagrams, so I may be wrong and all this may simply be coincidence. But, for now at least, everything seems to be functioning properly. Let's hope it stays that way.
Hope this helps someone else down the road with similar symptoms.
Regards,
Greg Bender
