Even by mechanics it is two camps, one that will turn rotors and the other that won't and they will never agree on the pros and cons for each operation.
I have no problem turning rotors if it is enough meat on them and one thing to keep in mind is that modern rotors are two to three times as thick and bigger diameter as they were just 15-20 years ago.
Most Saab rear rotors today are as thick or thicker than the front ones were on the 900 with solid rotors in mid 80s. And the cars are not really going that much faster today than they did in the 80s.
So one thing the cars ARE NOT nowadays is green when it comes to metal use in pads and rotors.
Maybe they catch up with all the flimsy plastic used everywhere else.
