My 9-5 has 156K miles on it and has been towed more than all of my other past cars put together... taking out the accident variable. That's saying a lot (not good) given 30 years of car ownership, and mostly high mileage vehicles.
I've had 2 idler pulley/serpentine belt tows, a DI cassette tow, a fuel pump tow, etc. Thanks to this board, I've been able to do a fair amount of the maintenance the car has required; else it would have been LONG gone. And I still like the car. But I'm REALLY not a fan of the dead on the road syndrome. In the old days I did a lot of long very late drives out in the middle of nowhere, where it could have been even more than just a hassle. I still don't feel like I'd send my wife out on a real trip with it, even though I have no problem taking it. But I generally know what's going on with the car.
My last 4 vehicles have ALL seen between 150-200k miles. Including the 1990 acura legend 5 spd manual that went over 200K on the original clutch. Never towed in 160K miles I owned it. Or the 1970 ford van 3 spd manual on the column that went back to zero miles (the old days odometers) twice on my watch.
Currently we have a 1997 volvo 850 w/135k miles on it (never towed since we've had it... about the same time that we've had the saab)
2002 Honda Odyssey w/184k miles on it.... haven't had it long enough to count it, but it has a pretty good track record based on the original owners records... (except for the 2 auto trannies). That said, if saab had been more forthcoming on the syncho's in my tranny, I'd have had that done 70K miles ago.
And the saab is still the one that is always a question mark.
