Assuming you are looking at enclosed trailers, make sure the trailer is well sealed. When the roads are wet the trailer is in a lot of spray from the car. Even then you may want to put things in plastic bags. Larger diameter tires are better, bumps can cause a lot of hopping and bouncing, especially with a light load. Adjusting tire pressure to the load helps reduce affects of bumps. If you can avoid anything with a flat front, at highway speeds streamlining helps make it easier to pull, especially with head winds. Along the same lines, a trailer no wider than the car and low enough you can see over it in the rear view mirror works well. Don't scrimp too much on size, trailers can be used for hauling other things and you will be surprised how fast they fill up. Something up to 4x6x2' high can be pulled at highway speeds without knowing it is there.
