Both my 9-5's I bought as cpo's just over $20k. By the time a pretty good car gets under $20k it's too 4 or 5 years old with 50k miles. My target cars are at about 3 years old, like lease returns, where the new car premium has been paid off but you can still find them with around 20 or 30k miles. I think my next car will be the 5 series diesel bmw. I'm guessing that will be around $30k at 3 years old. Maybe more. I also like to keep my cars. Ive had my 1999 se since 2001. My 2002 I've had 5 years now. I'm not really planning a purchase for another year or 2.
