try engine electrical maybe interior. I found it but I did find I needed additional help from this site previous posts to get it all apart esp at the beginning with the trim tricks. I will try to help. assuming may be some diff in 1999 and 2005 and I have auto tranny.

BTW, do you have a new switch yet? I have a used one from a 2001 model I couldnt use on my 1999. willing to sell it super cheap.

from memory:
(1) cubby/cig tray: use very small flathead and a cloth around the head to protect it and wedge underneath the cubby and just pop out. the catch is at the bottom.
(2) reach in and push out seat switches and disconnect them.
(3) remove rubberlike trim around shifter with fingers/ pry it up. it will come off by hand. no tools needed.
(3a) remove the rubber security key antenna around the key cylinder: gently rotate it while pulling upward. gently and it will come off. gently as you have to disconnect the elect connector as well.
(4) two Torx for wood trim behind cubby then gently pry up underneath wood trim on the other end (end toward arm rest). it will pop right out. disconnect all electrical connections carefully.
(5) remove rear of console (rear air duct cover) from rear seat location by prying out from the bottom by hand and then lifting up on entire rear piece. be careful. it should comeout.
(6) pry out gently the window switch bank and disconnect.
(7) there are maybe 6 torx holding the plastic large center console cover on. remove and disconnect any elect connectors
(8) center console housing: pull back floor carpet that rises up on center console on both sides to the floor to get to all a torx screw out on the lower sides. I think there are two more in the rear from rear seat location.
(9) shifter housing: I think 4 main bolts to floor. maybe torx. disconnect elect connections.
(9a) remove the air duct that goes to the rear air ducts by hand. it just wedges/slides in/out.
(10) this gets tricky: have to remove a c-ring lock washer/ring on the inside of the shaft holding the shifter cable ball socket to the shifter shaft. then can gently bang out the shaft enough to get the shifter cable ball socket off the metal shaft.
(11) there's a clip holding the cable in place at the front of the shifter housing. remove it with a flathead or pliers and then work out the cable rubber/plastic flange to get it dislodged from the shifter housing. you need to get the cable free of the housing and shaft b/c you have to remove the housing to turn it over to get to the ignition switch.
(12) remove shifter housing while disconnecting ignition wires. turn over and the switch comes out with 2 torx or screws. the key cylinder does not come out nor does it need to.

that's it I think. someone help if I forgot something or if the '05 is little different.

put everything back in reverse order. the trickiest part for me was getting the cable ball socket back on and the shaft banged all the way back in place far in enough to get the c-ring lock back on. it wants to push down. it took a little patience and careful banging and forcing. be careful in there. dont want to break any plastic parts on the shifter and there are several in close proximaty. also make sure you dont pinch any wires anywhere when putting it all back esp with the ignition wires that have a grommet through the shifter housing.

if you have any dead bulbs this is good time to replace them as well. you'll have everything out. hope this helps!
