In cruising there is no difference between the two engines. Mine has Aero software, so the difference is really tiny. 7.1 is pretty awesome for a 3600 lb car. Considering a friend with a manual TDI jetta gets 5/100 on long trips. I think it is better then my Miata would do on a long run.
