Agree with the others - the My 2007 Aero is VERY stiff, but handles very well. I don't mind it, but I can see that some would find the ride "punishing" - and I do not think for most that would be too strong a word - especially in areas where bad roads are prevalent, and with roads with a lot of expansion joints.
As far as vehicles, I have owned both a 2000 model and currently own a 2007 model now. Most on this board will disagree with me, but I really like the exterior of the 2007 much better - ESPECIALLY now that I have seen <2006 models on the road now after owning mine. The front end on the <2006 models (to me) now make the older cars odd in the front - almost pinched or something, and (don't kill me others) - a bit less substantial. That is just my opinion though. Opinions are just that - be sure and try them all out.
My only wish is that I had ventilated seats. I really liked that feature in my 2000 SE.
As far as the 9-3 - when I purchased my car this past June (certified, 2007 model), I was actually going to by a certified 2008 9-3 Aero V-6 (silver, beautiful car). Honestly, I drove it first, then went to the 9-5 and the 9-5 just felt better. I don't know how to explain it - honestly to me, it felt peppier, but just perhaps because I like the 4 Cylinder power band and torque. I never even thought about going back and driving the 9-3 Aero - bought the 9-5 about 3 hours after I drove it.
Good luck! You will love being in the "9-5 club"!
